Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Squad mobile application ("App", "we", "us") handles information when you use it. Squad is a local party game. Most features work entirely on your device and local network, with no account required. If you submit a bug report, or if you're a Squad Pro+ subscriber generating AI content, certain data is processed on our servers as described below.
1. Information We Collect
What we collect depends on which features you use:
Google AdMob Free tier only
Free users see interstitial ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's Advertising ID, IP address, and general usage data to serve ads. Non-personalized ads are requested by default. Users who purchase Squad Pro or Squad+ do not see ads. If you're in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, Google's consent (UMP) form is shown before any ad is requested, and you can change your choice anytime via "Ad Privacy Options" in Settings. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Account Sign-In Optional
Squad is fully playable without an account. If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple — required only to purchase Squad Pro, Squad Pro+, and content bundles — we receive and store the following from your chosen provider:
- Your email address
- Your display name, if your provider supplies one
- Your profile picture URL, if your provider supplies one (Google only)
- Which provider you used, and the account identifier they issue us
This is stored in our Supabase database and is used only to identify your account across devices and to link your purchases to it. Your email address and display name are also passed to RevenueCat for that purchase link — see below. We never receive your password. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only ever see Apple's relay address. You can delete all of it at any time — see Delete Your Account.
RevenueCat All users
RevenueCat manages our in-app purchases (Squad Pro, Squad+, content bundles) and checks your entitlement status every time you open the app — including if you've never made a purchase. RevenueCat assigns your device an anonymous identifier and may collect general device information and, for purchasers, purchase history to verify entitlements. No payment card data is ever handled by us or RevenueCat directly.
If you sign in, we also send RevenueCat your account identifier and, when your provider supplies them, your email address and display name. This links your purchases to your account so your Pro and Pro+ entitlements follow you across devices. RevenueCat processes this on our behalf as a service provider. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
AI-Generated Content Squad Pro+ only
Squad Pro+ subscribers can generate custom game content by entering a topic (e.g. "Harry Potter"). When you use this feature, the following data is processed and stored on our servers (Supabase):
- Your anonymous RevenueCat user ID — used to verify your subscription and track usage
- A Supabase authentication session — anonymous and created automatically on first use if you are not signed in, or tied to your account if you signed in with Google or Apple — used to verify that requests genuinely come from the app
- The topic text you enter — sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate content, and cached on our servers for up to 60 days
- The AI-generated content — cached for up to 60 days; topics you explicitly save are stored until you delete them
- A monthly generation count — tracked per user to enforce the monthly usage limit
Bug Reports All users
If you submit a bug report from the Settings screen, we store the following on our servers (Supabase): the message you write, your device platform, OS version, the app version, and an anonymous RevenueCat-generated identifier. This applies whether or not you've purchased Squad Pro or Squad+. We use this information only to investigate and respond to the issue you reported.
2. Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device only using AsyncStorage and is never transmitted to any server (except as described in the AI feature above):
- Player names entered in the game lobby
- Selected language preference
- Game settings and purchase state cache
- Relay server IP address for multiplayer
This data remains on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the App.
3. AI Content and Third-Party Processing
When Squad Pro+ users generate content, the topic text is transmitted to Anthropic, PBC via their Claude API. Anthropic processes this text to generate game content and may retain it in accordance with their own privacy policy. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Generated content and usage metadata are stored on Supabase, our cloud database provider. Supabase stores data on servers in the United States. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
4. Multiplayer (Local Network)
The multiplayer feature works over your local Wi-Fi or hotspot network. The host device runs a local WebSocket server and guest devices connect directly to it using the room code. No game data is transmitted to our servers — all communication stays on your local network. We do not collect or see any data exchanged during multiplayer sessions.
5. Children's Privacy
Squad is intended for users aged 13 and older. The 18+ content pack is clearly labelled and requires an in-app purchase. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Data may be shared only:
- With Google (AdMob) for ad serving — free users only
- With RevenueCat for entitlement and purchase verification — all users
- With Anthropic for AI content generation — Squad Pro+ users only, limited to the topic text you enter
- With Supabase for server-side storage — for AI usage data (Squad Pro+ users) and bug reports (all users)
- If required by law or to protect our legal rights
7. Your Rights
You can access or delete the data we hold about you:
- Delete your account and all associated server data — open Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app. Deletion is immediate and permanent. Full instructions, including how to request deletion if you can no longer access the app, are on our Delete Your Account page.
- Delete your AI-saved topics individually within the app (Squad Pro+ feature)
- Reset your Advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization in your device settings
- Request deletion of RevenueCat purchase data by contacting us
- Bug reports tied to your account are removed when you delete your account. If you submitted a bug report without an account, you can request its deletion by contacting us
- Delete all local app data by uninstalling the App
Deleting your account does not cancel or refund purchases: Squad Pro and Squad Pro+ are tied to your Apple or Google account. Manage or cancel a subscription through Subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play settings.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Server-side data (AI usage and saved topics for Pro+ users) is stored on Supabase with access controls. Payments are handled entirely by Google and RevenueCat — we never receive or store payment card information.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
